Mission Statement of Burmese Muslim Association
We are Burmese Muslim historically living peacefully together with all the ethnic peoples of Burma. We are the descendents of ethnic backgrounds in Burma. We are Burmese Muslims who believe in the Islamic religion, a religion of peace.
We have always been at the forefront along with the people of Burma not only during the independent struggle against the colonial rules but also as active participants in the cultural, educational, social development, national unity, human rights and democracy of
Burma throughout its history.
At the request of General Aung San, the Founding Father of Burma’s Independence; our respected hero, martyr and beloved Burmese Muslim leader U Razak founded the first nationwide Burman Muslim Congress in 1945. U Razak acted as the first chairman of the Congress. Since then, Burman Muslim Congress became an integral part of Burma’s independence struggle; and represented all Burmese Muslims regardless of political affiliation.
We, the new generation of Burmese Muslims, following the proud footsteps of our forefathers, and desirous of carrying on and participating in the unfinished struggle of Burma’s Second Struggle for Independence under the leadership of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, have formed the Burmese Muslim Association on October 23, 2006, with branches in many countries around the world.
The Burmese Muslim Association will relentlessly and conscientiously follow the path of our ancestors with vigor, courage, wisdom and altruism, until a just and free Federal Democratic Union is achieved.
We love, serve, honor and protect our country as much as anyone at anytime.
